Taken from the rooftop of the Duomo in Milan, Italy. I did have a wider shot, but it was very crowded, and there were two men leaning into my frame. The different colors of marble is because of pollution, which turns it black. They were in the process of cleaning the exterior (the entire facade was covered for restoration, much to my mother's dismay, lol.) From using pressurized washing, it cause areas not completed to have a streaked appearance, with the true, lighter peach colored marble to show through centuries of grime.
Any thoughts on its shape? It just seems odd to have a square. Does anyone think it detracts from the picture, or boxes it in? Just curious.
nothing wrong with framing your photo in a square, a lot of printing services will print in 1:1 ratios. you're lucky, i'd love to be able to visit italy. this is a pretty good architecture shot, when was it taken? i'm sorta doubting that it was that bright out at 12:01 AM
I think it was probably mid afternoon, and it was a cloudy day. It was back in May I took it. Yeah, Italy was pretty awesome. I just wish I knew a bit more history and had a better camera, because I know I missed a lot of great opportunities to put things on film.
Oh! Yeah, I never set the date and time on my camera, so I think that's the time it says for all my pictures.
The symmetry and composition is amazing in this! The photo itself looks death defying too Ive never had the chance to visit this wonder but it looks breath taking!

I don't know how much it'd cost for you to go, but surely it'd be cheaper from the UK than the US? You should go if you get the chance. I'd love to go back, but apparently I have to get a bit more edumicated.

And for my few pence, square photos rock.
I crop a lot of mine that way anyway.
